EVD MAX

AGE RELATED MUSCLE LOSS HAPPENS SOONER THAN YOU THINK……. BUT EARLY INTERVENTION IS POSSIBLE

Nutrition plays an essential role in the health and function of  adults. Inadequate nutrition can contribute to the development of both age related muscle loss  and obesity.

Physical activity and nutrition are corner stones at any stage of life to maintain a healthy weight and a healthy lifestyle.

As we step into adulthood (≥19 years old), stress, sedentary lifestyle, hectic schedules and erratic eating patterns compromises ones nutrition and in turn takes a toll on their health. Be it a student or a working individual, each one is constantly on the move to keep in pace with the fast moving world.  To keep on track in this rat race, individuals are compromising  on their diet esp by skipping the most important meal of the day i.e. breakfast.

Consuming adequate dietary protein is critical for maintaining optimal health, growth, development, and function throughout life. Dietary protein requirements in healthy adults (≥19 years old) are dictated largely by body mass and lean body mass, as well as net energy balance and physical activity .

There is a progressive decline in basal metabolic rate (BMR) at  a rate of 1-2% after 20years of age. Decrease in BMR results in decrease in muscle mass and increase in fat. After the age of 30, adults lose 3-8% of their muscle mass per decade. Less muscle means greater weakness and less mobility, both of which may increase your risk of falls and fractures.  Due to deficient protein intake there is low energy levels and unexplained fatigue.

Thus supplementing protein as early as even 20 years is highly beneficial and aids to maintain optimal muscular  health.

WHAT IS THE RELATION BETWEEN PROTEIN AND MUSCLE MASS?

Muscle is basically made up of protein and water. Protein is considered as the king of muscle food. The body breaks it down into amino acids, which it uses to build muscle.

Skeletal muscle protein is dynamic and in constant flux, alternating between states of negative (i.e., muscle protein synthesis/formation < muscle protein breakdown) and positive (i.e., muscle protein synthesis > muscle protein breakdown) protein balance, largely in response to fasting (i.e., postabsorptive) and feeding (i.e., postprandial), respectively.

In addition, free amino acids derived from muscle protein breakdown are used in the synthesis of immune system components, plasma proteins, peptide hormones, and enzymes.

Thus, proteins are the nutrients responsible to build and repair tissues, for production af hormones and enzymes, for formation of haemoglobin, etc to maintain optimal health.

To fulfill the daily protein requirement of those adults who are constantly on the move , we have EVD Max

  • For adults (≥19 years old)
  • For those recovering from all long time illnesses like dengue, tuberculosis, etc
  • For hospitalized patients

The daily requirement of protein 1gm/kg and it increases to 1.5-2gm/kg during illness.

EVD MAX IS POWERHOUSE OF PROTEIN

EVD Max offers 30% protein which gives a 100% amino acid profile over a time period of 6-8 hours

EVD Max is a blend of 3 quality proteins

  • Whey protein concentrate
  • Casein
  • Soy protein isolate

Whey protein and casein are dairy based, and soy protein is plant based.

Whey is a complete protein i.e. provides all the essential amino acids / building blocks whose biologically active components provide additional benefits to enhance human function. Whey is digested and absorbed rapidly. This means that it delivers its amino acids to the muscles immediately, which spikes muscle protein synthesis sky high. This is one property of whey protein that makes it superior to other protein sources, yet not perfect. Its speed of digestion and absorption is its benefit, but also its downfall. The problem with whey being absorbed so quickly is that it gets to the muscles and spikes muscle protein synthesis, but then it is used up and protein synthesis drops sharply.

Casein protein is digested and absorbed at a slow and steady rate. Research has proven that adding it to whey protein allowed the amino acids from casein to continue supplying the muscles long after the amino acids from whey were gone. Amino acid retention in the muscles studied was significantly higher 4 hours later when amino acid retention from whey was barely noticeable. This essentially prolongs the response initiated by the whey protein, which leads to greater muscle growth.

Soy protein is a high quality, plant-based protein that is comparable to milk, meat and eggs. Soy protein has a digestion rate (intermediate) compared to whey (fast) and casein (slow). This intermediate rate may allow soy protein to have an extended window of muscle protein synthesis Thus it is proven that a blend of the three proteins is far superior to whey protein alone as it provides a prolonged supply of proteins to the muscles to recover faster and more effectively.

Studies have shown that twice daily consumption of a whey protein-based, multi-
ingredient supplement along with vitamin D and calcium resulted in

  • Significant gains in muscle strength and lean mass.
  • Preservation of lean mass during weight loss
  • Enhanced physical function 6

L CARNITINE

  • Provides antioxidant protection i.e. neutralizes/ scavenge the free radicals
  • Often portrayed as a “fat burner”, reduces fat mass
  • Energiser
  • Enhances physical performance by increasing fat oxidation
  • Research shows that supplementation with L-carnitine results in improved muscle mass, reduced total fat mass and improved walking capacity
  • Growing evidence suggests that l-carnitine can positively affect muscle mass and revert the age-dependent decrease in muscle functioning.
  • Decreases physical and mental fatigue

TAURINE

  • Energizer
  • Protects the cells from damage
  • Regulates sugar and fat metabolism
  • Helps to control appetite

DIETARY FIBRE

  • Keeping one fuller for a longer period of time
  • Reduces the chances of hunger pangs
  • Reduces the incidences of in between snacking
  • Reduces the chances of overeating
  • Thus, helps to lose weight and keep ones weight in check

MULTIVITAMINS AND MULTIMINERALS

  • EVD Max provides a balance of essential vitamins and minerals instrumental in filling the nutritional gap
  • Help to boost immunity
  • Aid in quick recovery
  • Antioxidants aid in neutralizing the free radicals
